The biggest surprise early on has to be the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs are 5-1-2 and jumped from a “long shot” into the “favorites” group. Their odds have dropped from +5000 to the current +1600.
The biggest disappointments? The Arizona Coyotes are +6500 after being +3500 before the season, and the Chicago Blackhawks, who are without C Jonathan Toews (out indefinitely with undisclosed illness), are +10000 after once being +4000.

The Avalanche and Golden Knights are co-favorites to win the Stanley Cup. A winning futures bet on either of them pays 7-1. In other words, a $10 winning bet profits $70, and a $100 winning ticket would profit $700. Each of their implied probabilities of winning the Cup is 12.50%.
On the other end of the spectrum, if the Blackhawks or Red Wings were to shock the world as +10000 long shots, a winning ticket would pay 100-1. That’s a win probability of 0.99%.
